Acupuncture Helps to Regulate Blood Pressure
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine has been used for many years to help lower blood pressure. A recent study from the University of California, Irvine observed the mechanism by which acupuncture regulates blood pressure. The researchers found that acupuncture stimulates the release of certain chemicals in the brain that control the nervous system. This effect shows how acupuncture can control both heart rate and blood pressure.
An interesting observation from the study was that acupuncture had the ability to normalize both high and low blood pressure. In Chinese Medicine, the aim of treatment is to bring the body back to balance. In this case, it shows in very objective terms that acupuncture is indeed doing just that—balancing and normalizing. Unlike medications, acupuncture does not force the body in one direction or another. Instead, acupuncture acts like an adaptogen, encouraging the body to bring itself back to balance. If something is too low, it will raise it, if something is too high, it will lower it. Therefore, there is also no risk of overdosing as it works with the body’s own feedback loop.
