In my clinic I often find that we need determine the true cause of someone’s wrist pain and hand numbness. Often I find that they aren’t actually suffering from true carpal tunnel syndrome, but in fact are having symptoms connected to trigger points in the neck. Once those are worked on, the pain and numbness subside. It’s important to assess this first before treating this condition.
True carpal tunnel syndrome is connected to the median nerve in the wrist. Acupuncture can help to release the inflammation and open up space in the area to relieve symptoms. We usually start to see relief within a few sessions, with longer term relief after a month or so of regular treatments.
